One of our past retreats
From August 4 to 10, a literary retreat “Approach” by Ekaterina Hoarau took place in France, organized in partnership with Ekaterina Gorges.
The experience is best captured through the photos and videos taken during the retreat. But if you’d like to immerse yourself more deeply and learn more, visit the page dedicated to “Approach”.

Retreats are held rarely, and groups may be formed directly from the waiting list without additional announcements on social media.
What awaits you at Ekaterina’s retreats?
- Practice
- A lot of practice — but not too much, so you have time to choose what’s most valuable and truly absorb it. Some things will stay with you for later, ready to surface at an unexpected moment — to support you, spark a new idea, or help turn a draft into a text ready for publication. In any case, you’ll learn how to work with a whole toolkit of writing techniques and gain the experience of deeply focused, fully engaged creative work. This will help you make writing a natural part of your everyday life.
- Results
- You can be at any stage: from having multiple published books to holding a secret wish to answer “Writer” when asked what you do for a living. Wherever you are in your creative journey, the retreat will help you create visible change. This may take the form of learning to give space to new ideas, or gaining the ability to plan realistically; switching on your internal generator of compelling headlines, or defeating the fear of a blank page; writing new chapters of a novel, or finally finishing a short story. Each evening, you’ll find yourself celebrating new and meaningful steps forward.
- People
- Before the retreat begins, each potential participant takes part in a brief selection interview. This ensures that no one with mismatched values joins the group. In such a setting, you can have a new, restorative experience of human interaction. With this group, it’s easy to feel safe even during a lively discussion or gentle critique of your text. “I am among my people,” is the most common feedback from retreat participants. You will feel seen, heard, expressed, and alive.
- Recalibration
- The retreat format is ideal for anyone whose soul is asking for creative nourishment. By leaving behind your favorite cup, your usual route to the shop, and everyday responsibilities for others, you can reset and look at the familiar through a more creative lens. You may reconnect with what truly matters to you and notice which habits no longer serve you.
- Rest & ease
- A retreat is a sacred timeout from all obligations, a space where you don’t need to clean, cook, shop, or take care of logistics and other people. Instead, you can enjoy genuine care and attention to your needs — even if that need is to spend the entire day reading and writing. And yes, you can finally catch up on sleep :)
